One of the most popular services for building backlinks to web sites is closing up shop. BuildMyRank has officially announced on their site that they are closing their site down due to Google de-indexing a ton of their sites and no longer being able to provide a quality service to their customers. Everyone was surprised a few weeks ago when BMR announced they were closing the doors for any new customers who wanted to join their network, as many expected that it was to maintain the quality the site had to offer. Looking back at it now, it’s was likely that BMR knew the pending closure was coming.

On a daily basis, we monitor our domain network to check metrics like page rank, indexed pages, etc. As with any link-building network, some de-indexing activity is expected and ours has been within a permissible range for the past two years. Unfortunately, this morning, our scripts and manual checks have determined that the overwhelming majority of our network has been de-indexed (by Google), as of March 19, 2012. In our wildest dreams, there’s no way we could have imagined this happening.
It had always been BMR’s philosophy that if we did things a bit different from other networks, we would not only have a better quality service to offer our users, but a longer life in this fickle industry. Sadly, it appears this was not the case.
Once again, another network and business falls to the mighty hands of Google. This is another example of how crucial it is NOT to sell text links through your web sites. While there is a massive influx of customers who are now looking for new link building solutions, it will be interesting to see which new service comes to rise and takes advantage of the situation.
